In the event that citizens need to evacuate their homes due to typhoons, flooding and other disasters, etc., Takasaki city will issue evacuation alerts in 3 stages

1  Evacuation of the elderly and others who may take time to evacuate (koreishato hinan)

When areas of Takasaki are likely to suffer damage as a result of a pending weather event, etc., citizens will be instructed to begin preparations for evacuation, and senior citizens and other people with limitations should begin evacuating to a safer location, such as a designated evacuation site.

2  Evacuation Instruction (hinan shiji)

If damage and loss of life from a weather event is imminent, citizens will be instructed to evacuate right away. If it is dangerous to be outside at this point, instead of moving to an evacuation center, citizens should move to a safer location in their house such as a sturdy room on a higher level.

3  Emergency Safety Order (kinkyu anzen kakuho)

The highest level is when the city instructs citizens to take all means necessary to protect their safety. This is when loss of life is likely without dramatic action, and citizens should move immediately to a safer location.

Takasaki City Evacuation Service

In a disaster, Takasaki will provide transport for people who are unable to evacuate on their own because of age, disability or other limitation, from their home to an evacuation center. Use the Takasaki City Evacuation Service by calling 027-321-5000 in Japanese.
