Health examinations for children starting school

Takasaki elementary schools hold health examinations for children who will be new grade one students in April of the following year, to ensure they are healthy and able to make the best possible start to their school life.

COVID-19 prevention measures

  • Parents and children should thoroughly wash their hands with soapy water before coming to the school for the examination, and disinfect upon entering the school.
  • On the day of the examination, take your and your child's temperature, and pay attention to your health condition leading up to the day. If you or your child is suffering from any kind of ill health, please contact the school where you will take the examination by telephone 2 hours before the start time.
  • Children may be accompanied by only one parent/guardian on the day. Ensure both are wearing a mask at all times unless instructed to remove it by the examiner.
  • Each examination location (school) will ask you to complete a health evaluation form in advance, and will take your temperature. Ensure the health evaluation form is filled out correctly, and submit it at the reception desk on the day. Anyone who records a temperature above 37 degrees celsius will be required to wait a few minutes before being checked again. If the second check also shows a temperature above 37, you may be asked to reschedule the examination for a different day, or be required to wait to consult the doctor on site before proceeding.
  • Social distancing measures will be put in place. Please note this may cause the examination to take longer than expected.
