Every April, Takasaki sends sends citizens various bills and taxes that need to be paid, such as:

  • Property tax
  • Residence tax
  • National health insurance premiums
  • Kei car tax
  • Nursing insurance premiums
  • Insurance premiums for older senior citizens
  • Public housing rent
  • Nursery school fees

Each one has its own due date, so be sure you are paying everything on time.

How to pay

While it varies slightly depending on the type of tax you are paying, generally they can be paid one of three ways.

With cash

Bring the bill to Takasaki City Hall's Tax Division (2nd floor, counter 34) or to the tax division counter at any of the branch offices. If it has a barcode printed on it, you can also pay at any convenience store nationwide.

By direct debit

Those who pay by direct debit do not need to pay the funds transfer fee; however there are some required steps to get it set up.

How to set it up

You need to bring your bank book and registered seal to your bank (either Japan Post or a bank located in Takasaki) and complete the necessary paperwork. After submitting everything, direct debit payments will begin from the following month. Note:

  • Payments will not stop unless you submit the necessary paperwork required to cancel them.
  • If you wish to stop payments or close the connected bank account, please go to either Takasaki City Hall (2nd floor counter 35) or to the tax division of any branch office and submit the required paperwork.
  • If there are any changes to your personal information (such as name change due to marriage or divorce), you will need to update your bank account accordingly; please do so at your bank.
  • Those who pay for residence tax and nursing insurance premiums out of their monthly salary or pension payments are not able to switch to direct debit payments.

By phone

If the bill or tax has a barcode printed on it, you can pay by phone; currently payments can be accepted via the following apps: PayPay, LINE Pay, AU Pay, D Barai, and J-Coin Pay.
