Paying City Taxes

There are several different kinds of taxes and insurances that get billed each year.

  • Property tax (kotei shisan-zei)
  • Residence tax (shi kenmin-zei)
  • National health insurance premium (kokumin kenko hoken-zei)
  • Kei car tax (kei jido sha-zei)
  • Nursing insurance premium (kkaigo hoken-ryo)
  • Insurance premium for older senior citizens (koki korei hoken-ryo)
  • Public housing rent (shi-ei jutaku shiyo-ryo)
  • Nursery school fee (hoken-ryo)

Pay before the deadline

How many payments and their respective deadlines varies from each type of tax or insurance. If not paid before the deadline, they may start to incur late fees. When unable to pay on time, please come consult with city hall.

How to pay

While it varies slightly depending on the type of tax you are paying, generally they can be paid one of three ways.

In cash

Payment slips sent via mail can be paid in cash at the following places:

  • Tax Division of Takasaki City Hall (2nd floor, counter 34)
  • Tax Division of any branch office of city hall
  • Select banks & Japan Post branches within Takasaki
  • Convenience stores

Payment slips can be reprinted if necessary. Please come to city hall or a branch office to request them.

By direct debit

It is possible to register direct debit payments at select banks and Japan Post branches around Takasaki.

To set up direct debit payments, take the payment slip, a photo ID, the bank book, and the registered seal to the bank directly. Fill out the required form and submit it to the bank window.

With a cellphone

If the payment slip has a barcode on it, it can be paid via the following apps:

  • Au Pay
  • D Barai
  • J-Coin Pay
