Enrolling in school from 2025

When a non-Japanese child wants to enter a public elementary school, they have certain procedures that must be completed first. For children who wish to start attending school from April 2025, a parent or guardian needs to contact the Board of Education (the kyoshokuin-ka) by Friday, November 22nd. The phone number is 027-321-1298.

In order to enter elementary school, the child is required to undergo certain medical checkups. Children born between April 2nd, 2018 and April 1st, 2019 are now eligible for these checkups. After receiving a notice from the Board of Education, please be sure to confirm what checkups need done and where you can go to get them completed. These checkups are mandatory for upcoming first graders.
