My Number card applications and renewals can be done at any post office in Takasaki. Staff will help with taking the required photo or filling out the application form for free. This service is being offered until March 31st, 2025. You do not need a reservation.
New applications
The following persons are eligible to apply for a new card:
- Someone who has come in-person to apply for their own card and who has their address registered in Takasaki
- Someone who has never had a My Number card before (did not apply for or make a card in the past)
- Someone who will not be moving to another city in the near future*
- For foreign residents, someone who has a valid status of residence for 3 months or more
*Note: If you move to another city, Takasaki cannot forward your card to the new address. You will need to reapply from the beginning at the new city.
What to bring
You will need to bring a photo ID and something to confirm your My Number, such as the application form from City Hall, the My Number notification card (the green color paper version), or the My Number notification form.
Renewals
The following persons are eligible to renew their card:
- Someone who has come in-person to apply for their own card and who has their addressed registered in Takasaki
- Someone who can renew their card 3 months before the expiraiton date (Renewals are possible as early as three months before the expiration date)
- Someone who will not be moving to another city in the near future
- For foreign residents, someone who has a valid status of residence for 3 months or more
Things to note
Please be aware of the following:
- If you move to another city, Takasaki cannot forward your card to the new address.
- Applications to reissue a card that has been lost, etc. cannot be accepted.
- For foreign residents, those who are a permanent resident or a special permanent resident can renew their cards, but foreign residents on any other status of residence will need to do so at city hall.
- The electronic certificates cannot be updated at the post office.
