The Japanese government is doing a census this year. A census is when the government does a survey to count how many people live in Japan. Japanese law requires everyone to complete the survey, including foreign residents, so please cooperate.
The survey paper will be delivered to all households from Saturday, September 20th. If nobody is home, the survey will be placed in the mailbox instead. Keep an eye out for the envelope pictured below.
The completed census paper can be submitted either online or by post. The deadlines vary depending on the method of submission.
Those who wish to submit online should open the multilingual PDF here [PDFファイル/1.2MB]. There is a QR code on the second page which leads to the official website, and is available in 28 languages.
