Preparing for snow removal

ページID:0081125 更新日:2026年1月14日更新 印刷ページ表示

There are times when it snows even in Takasaki. Even minimal snow fall can cause chaos; avoid this by preparing for snow in advance. In cases of severe snow, Takasaki posts information on the city website (in Japanese only).

Snow removal equipment

Freshly fallen snow is lighter and easier to deal with. It is recommended to prepare the following to ensure safe and efficient snow removal:

  • Water and cold proof clothing (hats, slip resistent boots, gloves, etc.)
  • Towels
  • Aluminum snow shovels (good at preventing snow from sticking to them)
  • Cellphones (for when power goes out)

Preparation of daily necessities

It is recommended to stock up on daily necessities in case of heavy snow or other emergencies, as there may be food shortages or power outages that affect the availability of electricity and gas. This includes a supply of food, water, flashlights, and portable stoves.

Winter tires for vehicles

Winter tires are needed for both snowy and icy roads. They can be used for cars as well as bikes; if needed, consider using tire chains as well.

To those unable to evacuate themselves

For the elderly or other persons who are unable to clear themselves a path to the road during heavy snow, please call the number below. A city hall employee can be sent to assist.
