ページID:0082395 更新日:2026年2月3日更新 印刷ページ表示

In line with the federal government's economic strategy to support families, a one time cash benefit of 20,000 yen will be given to every child. The money will be deposited into the bank account already being used for receiving the child allowance (the jido teate in Japanese).

Eligibility

Anyone raising a child born between April 2nd, 2007 and March 31st, 2026 is eligible to receive the cash benefit.

Application process

Cases when an application is unnecessary

A notice was sent out in early February to all persons who received the child allowance from Takasaki in September 2025 (or October, for babies born in September). Those who receive the notice do not need to apply; the money will be deposited in the same bank account as the child allowance on Tuesday, February 24th.

For babies born between October 1st, 2025 and March 31st, 2026, a separate notice will be sent after the parent or guardian has signed up for the child allowance, informing them of the details concerning receiving the cash benefit.

Cases when an application is necessary

If any of the following applies, please apply for the cash benefit at the Children & Families Division by Friday, February 27th.

  •  Public servants receiving the child allowance from their employer
  • Persons who became the child allowance recipient due to a divorce (including those filed as mutual consent) between October 1st, 2025 through March 31st, 2026. They should visit the Children & Families Division to update the child allowance paperwork and apply for the cash beenfit at the same time
  • Persons who are raising a child under the age of 18 but not receiving the child allowance (excluding public servants)

Victims of domestic violence (DV) who have fled to Takasaki may be eligible to receive the cash benefit. They should consult with the Children & Families Division right away to determine eligibility.

Beware of scams

There are times when city officials may need to contact residents at home or work regarding the cash benefit. However, they will never request for someone to go to the ATM or pay additional fees via bank transfer. If concerned whether a call is a scam or not, please come to the Children & Families Division counter or consult with the police (the non-emergency line is #9110).
