Takasaki used to provide 50,000 yen to women who had a natural birth that was not covered by insurance; this ended on March 31st, 2026. From April 2026, Takasaki will instead pay a monetary gift for all babies born in Takasaki, even when born via c-section or when an epidural was used.
An amount equivalent to 30,000 yen (or 60,000 yen if having twins) will be gifted via digital currency that can be used at various shops around Takasaki. More detailed information will be mailed to eligible households after April 1st; look for the notice labeled 乳児期の健診等のご案内 (check-ups and other such information for infants).
Women with a newborn born after April 1st and whose first registered address is in Takasaki are eligible to receive this monetary gift. Information about it was sent to qualifying women inside the notice labeled 乳児期の健診等のご案内 (check-ups and other such information for infants). The gift can be redeemed starting in July 2026, but will include babies born in April through June.
