With the new fiscal year fast approaching, many people flock to city hall to do a lot of paperwork, thus there are long waits at the counters. To combat this, Takasaki City Hall will be open on the following Sundays:
- March 22nd, 2026
- March 29th, 2026
- April 5th, 2026
Please note that not all counters are open on these dates; in the main city hall only the Citizens Division and the Health & Insurance Divisions will be open. For branch offices, only the Citizens Welfare Division. In addition, the Gunma Branch Office will also open its Tax Division. The Sunday hours for all are 8:30am to 5:15pm.
Adjusted hours at the Gunma Branch Office
The Gunma Branch Office is usually open on Saturdays, but will be closed on the following dates and replaced with the above-mentioned Sundays:
- March 21st, 2026
- March 28th, 2026
- May 4th, 2026
Paperwork that can be done
The various paperwork that relate to moving in or out of Takasaki can all be done during these Sunday hours. In the main city hall, counters 4 through 10 and 15 (located on the 1st floor) will be open. At the branch offices, these procedures will take place at the Citizens Welfare Division.
- Changing your address, registering your personal seal, or registering your address on your residence card (for foreign residents)
- Getting copies of the residence certificate (juminhyo) or koseki tohon that was registered in Takasaki
- Getting a copy of the personal seal registration form (inkan toroku shomei-sho)

Things to note:

- The Takasaki Consultation Center for Foreign Residents will not be open to provide interpretation support.
