Health examinations for school children carried out at schools

According to national guidelines, schools provide physical and dental examinations for school children to check for disease and abnormalities that may prevent healthy development.

Examination types

  • Body measurements (height and weight)
  • Eye sight
  • Hearing (in elementary 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades; junior high 1st and 3rd grades; senior high 1st and 3rd grades)
  • Cardiovascular (in elementary 1st and 4th grades; junior high 1st grade; senior high 1st grade)
  • Urine analysis
  • Anemia (junior high 2nd grade; high school 2nd grade)
  • Cholesterol (junior high 2nd grade)

Health examinations performed by school doctor and dentist

  • Physical
  • Tuberculosis
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Check for lifestyle-related diseases
  • Opthamology
  • Ear and nose health
  • Dental check-up

Health examinations for children starting school

Takasaki elementary schools hold health examinations for children who will be new grade one students in April of the following year, to ensure they are healthy and able to make the best possible start to their school life.

※The location of your child's health check will be the school* noted in the "Notice of health examination for children starting school" that will be sent to applicable households. (*The school is based on your designated school district, according to your registered address).

Eligible children

All children who will start elementary school or special education school in April of the following year.

Notice of health examination for children starting school

Notices will be sent out to the family of applicable children in August. If you do not receive a letter by the end of August, or have any other concerns, please contact the Takasaki Board of Education, Health Education Division on the 16th floor of Takasaki City Hall. (Tel: 027-321-1294)
