Regarding Child Payments (jido teate)

ページID:0001261 更新日:2023年12月18日更新 印刷ページ表示

The Child Payment is available for parents and guardians of children (up to middle school aged).

Please note that there is an income limit for eligibility. If the household's breadwinner makes more money that the income limit allows, then he or she is not eligible to receive the Child Payment. Likewise, if there is a change in income that puts the breadwinner below the limit, then he or she becomes eligible to receive it but must resubmit a new application.

For more information about the income limit, please check the Takasaki City website (Japanese only).

Note

Child Payment applications are due by the end of June, or within 15 days of receiving the residence tax notice from the city/your employer. If you apply late, you will not be eligible to receive the Child Payment in full.

The Family Status Report (genkyo todoke)

The Family Status Report is used to confirm that each household is eligible to continue receiving the Child Payment.

Submitting the Family Status Report

After changes that were implemented in 2022, most households do not need to submit the Family Status Report. However, there are some circumstances that still require one; for example, recipients who live separately from the child. Households that do need to submit one should have received a copy in the mail at the end of May. The deadline to submit it is the end of June.

Reporting changes in your situation

If any of the following situations become applicable to you, please complete the necessary procedures as soon as possible. There are some situations where a delay could result in you having to repay the money you received in full.

  • When the recipient, spouse, or child's address changes
  • When the number of children in the household changes (ex: by giving birth, your child gets married, etc.)
  • When the recipient is no longer raising the child (ex: because of divorce, etc.)
  • When the recipient or spouse becomes a public servant (komuin)
  • When the breadwinner changes from the recipient to the spouse (or vice-versa)
  • When the recipient gets married
  • When the income level has changed
  • When the recipient changes his or her pension plan and has a child under the age of 3
